Hey everyone, I've just started learning to play piano and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything that could help me out. Any resources you could link to that helped when you began to play would be super appreciated, and I'm also on the hunt for some beginner-level songs I can play that I know. Any song recommendations would be awesome. I vary widely in the type of music I enjoy, and can be odd in that I might like one or two songs by an artist or on a genre, and nothing else by the same artist or genre. Some examples of what I enjoy; Coldplay, Nickleback, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Maroon 5, The Used, Modest Mouse, Taking back Sunday, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Five for Fighting, Train, Hinder, Death Cab for Cutie. Anything with some up-beat lyrics, or anything with depressing lyrics but upbeat music or vice versa.

Oh you have GarageBand on Mac? Open and Click Lesson Store and Download some Contemporary music and once downloaded click Learn to Play and Start learning.

You should start with Jazz, it would be perfect for you & then go for further.

Hi! Great question. I'd recommend starting with some basic jazz standards like Blue Bossa, A-Train...get a Fake book. That way, you will learn how to read charts. Good luck!!
